Composition : Dexamethasone 0.1%Neomycin sulfate 0.5%

Pharmaceutical Forms : Cream

Usage : Topical antibiotic and steroid for the treatment of skin infection

Composition : Each 1g. of NEO-ULTRASON cream contains :

1 mg of Dexamethasone, and 5 mg of Neomycin sulfate.

Properties :

This drug is prescribed for treating skin disorders that respond to topical therapy by steroids, and it is effective against infections and pruritus which helps in treating many kinds of skin impulsions, and the presence of neomycin in the drug as a bactericidal to many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, gives the drug wide range effect in treating skin disorders that are resulted by infection.

Indications :

For the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses with secondary infection, as allergic skin impulsions which are results of touches, foods, or heat rays. Eczematous skin infection, static skin infection and eczema seborrhoeicum.

Contraindications :

1- Hypersensitivity to any component of this product.

2 – Virus, tubercular and fungal skin injuries.

Side effects :

Burning, itching, irritation dryness, folliculitis, skin atrophy.

Precautions:

  1. It is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.
  2. Patients should be advised not to use this medication for any disorder other than that for which it was prescribed.
  3. The treated skin area should not be bandaged or otherwise covered or wrapped unless directed by the physician.
  4. Patients should report any signs of local adverse reactions especially under occlusive dressings.
  5. Parents of pediatric patients should be advised not to use tight – fitting diapers on child being treated as these garments may constitute occlusive dressings.
  6. Pregnants, nursing mothers and children: drugs of this class should not be used extensively on pregnant patients, in large amounts, or for prolonged periods of time. Administration of topical corticosteroids to children should be limited to the least amount compatible with an effective therapeutic regimen. Chronic corticosteroid therapy may interfere with the growth and development of children.

Dosage and administration:

Apply to affected area as a thin film three or four times daily.

When a favorable response is obtained reduce the number of daily application to one or two and eventually discontinue.
