Composition: Each Fort Suppository Contains 3g of glycerin
Each Adults Suppository Contains 2.166g of glycerin.
Each children suppository contains 1.3g of glycerin.
Excipients: Na OH, stearic acid.
Mechanism of action:
Glycerin is classified as an osmotic laxative.
Glycerin by the rectal route promotes peristalsis and evacuation of the bowel by virtue of its irritant action and by increasing the amount of fluid, making it easier for stools to pass.
Indications:
For relieves occasional constipation.
Contraindications:
Dosage and administrations:
For Ch. Suppositories 1.3g:
Children 2 – 6 years of age: 1 suppository daily or as directed by a doctor.
Children under 2: ask a doctor.
Not suitable for use by infants (under 1 year).
For Ad. Suppositories 2.166g and Fort Suppositories 3g:
Adults and children 6 years and over: 1 suppository per day or as directed by a doctor
Children 2 – 6 years: use Child Suppositories.
0.7 g:
For infants (under 1 year): One suppository.
Pregnancy and lactation:
No evidence of harmful effects available. However, all medicines should be avoided if possible during pregnancy and lactation. Use only under a doctor’s instruction in these conditions.
Side effects:
common side effects: Anal irritation; burning sensation; diarrhea; gas; nausea; stomach cramps.
Severe side effects: Severe allergic reactions, rectal bleeding.
Warnings:
Overdose:
If the product is accidentally swallowed it is unlikely to cause effects. Accidental ingestion of a large number of suppositories may cause headache, nausea and vomiting less frequently diarrhea, thirst, dizziness, mental confusion and cardiac arrhythmias can occur. If swallowed, medical help should be sought right away.
Storage conditions: Store at temperature below 25°c.
