Pharmaceutical Dosage Form: F.C. Tablets.
Chemical Composition:
Each F.C. tablet contains:
500 mg Glucosamine sulfate.
400 mg Chondroition sulfate Na.
characteristics:
Glucosamine is an endogenous mucopolysaccharide used in the synthesis of cartilage. Exogenous administration of glucosamine increases the “bluilding blocks” available for cartilage production. Because sulfur is essential for glucosaminoglycan bonds within cartilage, the sulfate salt form may also provide important acitivity.
Uses:
WHAT IS OSTEOARTHRITIS (OA)?
Osteoarthitis, also called degenerative joint disease, is the most common type of arthritis. When cartilage becomes worn, exposed bones can rub together and the painful symptoms of osteoarthritis may appear. It is associated with a breadkown of cartilage in joints and commonly occurs in the hips, knees and vertebral column. It also often affects the finger joints, the joint at the base of the thumb, and the joint at the base of the big toe.
GLUCONE is indicated to help in osteoarthritis, to ease the joints movement.
Directions:
One tablet in the morning and one in the evening, with a large glass of water.
Side effects:
Preliminary studies show glucosamine to be safe and well tolerated. Common side effects may include:
Nausea, diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset and increased intestinal gas. These side effects are reported in a small portion of patients. However, even substances that are found naturally in the body can have unpredictable results when taken in higher than normal quantities and in different formulations.
Precautions:
Drug Interactions:
Studies suggest that glucosamine sulfate may increase insulin resistance.
Combination with blood thinning medication may cause bleeding in some people.
Storage conditions:
Store in a cool and dry place (below 25°C), out of reach of children.
